How does counseling work?

Basically, we work together one on one to understand your strengths and concerns. We identify the issues you are struggling with and come up with practical solutions to get the results you want.

Do I have to come in and see you?

You have options. You can come to the office in Davie and work face to face or you can work via a secure web-base video system or using a telephone. This means if you live somewhere else in the country or even in another country, we can still work together. You can also do a combination the three.

How do I know you are qualified to help me?

I have over 20 years of experience as a clinician. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. As a mental health professional, I have also taught graduate students at Capella University and Carlos Albizu University, Miami, Florida. I have also supervised interns, helping them improve their skills as counselors and guiding in becoming licensed counselors. A number of organizations and individuals have recognized me for my work as a mental health professional.

How do I know if you are the right person for me?

The best way for you to know is to call and schedule a free consultation. We can talk for 15-30 minutes and see if there is a fit. Afterwards, you can judge for yourself without any obligation.

What is my time commitment, do I need to come forever?

Counseling is not necessarily meant to be a long term commitment. The goal is to resolve your concerns as soon as possible! The clients we work with come in and get what they need then go on with their lives. We are available via web-base video, telephone, and in person when someone encounters a challenge and needs a few maintenance counseling sessions. Three (3) months commitment is standard.

Is it confidential?

Yes, all sessions are confidential.

How long are the sessions?

The sessions are a full 60 minutes not the typical 50-minute therapy sessions. Intensive sessions, 2 to 3 hours or longer, are also available for clients who live a distance away from the office or local clients who want to make progress much faster.

How much does it cost?

Very important question, fees vary depending on the type of service you’d like. I do offer a free 30 minute initial consultation in person or by telephone.

Do you take credit cards?

Yes, we accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Additionally, counseling is a qualified expense if you have a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
